  1. Rinse quinoa under cold water for 30 seconds. This is an important step. We need to add some moisture to the grain and rinse off any dirt.
  2. Toast quinoa in a small pan over medium-low heat for approximately 5 minutes, stirring continuously. Toasting quinoa will bring out its aromatic nutty taste.
  3. Add cold water. The rule here is to add water just enough to cover quinoa by about one inch.
  4. Turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. This should take about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Cover with a lid, turn heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Resist the temptation to open the lid to check on your quinoa. Lifting the lid makes the steam escape which will mess with the cooking time.
