Try a new smoky twist in your favorite dressing to add complexity and depth to the flavor of your dish.
I’ve lived a good portion of my life without ever tasting tahini on its own. I was used to having the store-bought dressings such as Italian or Balsamic. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. The only problem was that my meals always tasted the same. I was adding the same flavor to my salads day after day. I was bored.
Sometimes, you get to the point when you feel you’re ready for something new. In my case, that was a new dressing flavor.
I first turned to Tahini about a year ago. I knew that Tahini was a key ingredient in hummus but I had never actually tasted Tahini on its own before.
At first, I hated Tahini! I couldn’t quite get the flavor. Then one day when I was at Whole Foods, I decided to give it another try – and I loved it! I concluded that the quality of Tahini paste has a lot to do with its taste. Also trying a few different brands helped find my favorite. My current favorite is a Whole Foods store brand. I keep trying new brands all the time and will definitely let you know if I find something better.
My classic SimpleFitTahini Dressing is still one of my favorites. It is simple and goes with many dishes. This Smoky Tahini Dressing is made exactly the same way as the classic dressing with one new ingredient – smoked paprika. Smoked paprika adds an unbelievably rich and smoky flavor.
I will share one secret use of this Smoky Tahini Dressing. Have you ever had a meal where you feel like it’s missing something? But you just can’t quite figure our what? Smoky Tahini Dressing will rescue your dish. Just add a tablespoon of this smoky-sweet dressing and it will transform your dish into a tasty meal.

Add an unbelievably rich and complex flavor to any dish with this Smoky Tahini Dressing.
- ½ cup tahini paste
- ½ cup warm water
- juice of 1 lemon, medium size
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp salt

Blend everything.

Adjust ingredients as needed. Add more lemon juice for more acidity, add more garlic if you’d like a stronger garlic flavor, add more salt to round flavors together.

Depending on the brand of tahini paste, your sauce maybe thicker or thinner. If your sauce is too thick, add more water, 1 tbsp at a time until you reach desired consistency.
