It’s a flatbread made from chickpea flour in a skillet in 10 minutes. It’s become my new staple.
This Spicy Chili Crisp Pizza is one of my favorite things to make with this flatbread recipe. Once you make the flatbread, you top it with delicious toppings and bam – your dinner is ready!
So, what are our toppings?
First off, we’ll be topping this flatbread pizza with hummus. Yum
It’s easy to make from scratch over the weekend – here is the recipe for my Easy & Creamy Homemade Hummus if you’re interested in learning how to make it from scratch.
I’ve been making hummus at home for a few months now and it has become my Saturday ritual. Soak up chickpeas overnight on Friday. Then cook it up on Saturday. I make a huuuuge batch so I have enough hummus for two weeks. #nomnom
If you don’t have time to make hummus from scratch then the store-bought would work just fine. I think any flavor hummus would work well with this pizza recipe.
As the second step, we will be topping our pizza with Spicy Chili Crisp. This Chinese oil-based condiment has become my new obsession.
I must give credit to my hubby for this. He discovered this oil first and started to put it on EVERYTHING. Once I tried it – I became addicted right away too!
The Spicy Chili Crisp is China’s top-selling sauce. I guess I’m not the only one addicted!
It’s made from simmered chilis, Sichuan peppercorns, and spices in oil. It also has soy nuts, fried onions, and fried garlic. It’s crispy and packed with flavor!
After that, we will be adding some fresh touch to our pizza with chopped kale or arugula. And then drizzle with either unflavored dairy-free yogurt or tahini.

- 1 flatbread crust (see SimpleFitVegan recipe for Chickpea Flour Flatbread recipe)
- 2 tbsp hummus
- 1 tsp spicy chili crisp (it’s a chili oil condiment, my favorite brand is Laoganma’s Spicy Chili Crisp and it’s sold in most grocery stores in the U.S.) Note: you can also use hot sauce as an alternative
- ½ cup chopped greens such as arugula or kale
- 1 tsbp dairy-free yoghurt or tahini

If using SimpleFitVegan Chickpea Flour Flatbread recipe, after the flatbread is made, top it with all the ingredients in the following order: hummus, spicy chili crisp, greens, and drizzle with dairy-free yogurt or tahini.

If using a store-bought flatbread, then warm it in a skillet first, about 2 mins on each side. Then top with all the ingredients in order listed in # 1 above.
