5-minute simple Tahini Dressing is a perfect go-to dressing for salads, buddha bowls, falafels, burgers and grilled veggies!
Have you tried tahini paste on its own?
I did and I didn’t like it. That was my first encounter with tahini. I simply couldn’t understand all the buzz around it since it didn’t really taste all that good.
I didn’t start liking it until I’ve actually made a dressing out of it to go with my salads and falafels. If you’re like me and don’t quite like tahini on its own, try making a dressing out of and see how you like it.
What is tahini anyway?
Tahini paste is made from sesame seeds and is a staple in many Middle Eastern cuisines. There are several different kinds of sesame seeds from which tahini paste can be made such as unhulled/natural, raw, toasted and sprouted.
Unhulled or natural sesame seeds are the ones that have not been stripped of their seed coat (aka hull). These seeds are less processed and in their most natural state. In my honest opinion, I find that sesame paste made from unhulled or natural sesame seeds tastes much better vs. other kinds. It maybe a matter of personal preference so you may have to taste various varieties to find what you like.
Are you ready to make it? You will have your tahini dressing ready in 5 minutes. It’s made of simple and fresh ingredients and will add a delicious flavor to your dishes. You can store this tahini dressing in the fridge for up to 2 weeks (that is if it lasts that long! ;))

- ½ cup tahini paste
- ½ cup warm water
- juice of 1 medium size lemon
- 2 garlic cloves
- ¼ tsp salt
-
Blend everything in a food processor or blender until smooth. Adjust ingredients as needed. Add more lemon juice for more acidity, add more garlic if you’d like a stronger garlic flavor, add more salt to round flavors together.
-
Depending on the brand of tahini paste, your sauce maybe thicker or thinner. If your sauce is too thick, add more water, 1 tbsp at a time until you reach desired consistency.
