Looking for an easy side dish recipe? Make this Asian-style Sesame Roasted Brussel Sprouts that are crispy and baked to perfection!
What is one side dish that comes to mind in da winter?
Brussel Sprouts, of course! Or is it BS for short? hehe
All kidding aside, Brussel Sprouts are everyone’s favorite starting from Thanksgiving time in November all the way until the end of March. I’ve already made one other recipe Balsamic Roasted Brussel Sprouts which
This recipe is so simple it will blow your mind. There are only two key ingredients to add to these little green balls to make them a star side dish.
First key ingredient is toasted sesame oil. Now, there are different varieties of sesame oils like refined and unrefined, but I prefer toasted because of its strong nutty flavor. It has a dark brown color because the sesame seeds have been toasted prior to expelling the oil.
Side note on sesame oil – it’s been around for 5000 years!
The second star ingredient is sesame seeds! Sesame on sesame. Sprinkling these little seeds all over our Brussel Sprouts will give them a little crunch and seal that sesame flavor. Can you tell I love this recipe?

I want to share one last thing on the roasting method. I’ve roasted Brussel Sprouts a million times and I’ve optimized the technique and time on how to cook them fast and get the perfect result every time. Here are the steps involved:
- Do not use parchment paper. Just lay the Brussel Spouts directly on the baking dish. This will help make them crispy on the outside.
- Bake on the top shelf.
- Bake at 400F for 20 minutes.
- Flip half-way through.
This method essentially involves roasting Brussel Sprouts at high temperatures for a short period of time. Flipping half-way is key to prevent them from burning. So, don’t forget that por favor 😊
