Hemp seed is a magical plant food that is so good for you that it hurts.
I’ve only started consuming hemp seeds recently and I’ve become a big big fan.
First, let’s talk taste. Hemp seeds have a mild and pleasant nutty taste.
Second, texture. Even though hemp is a seed its texture isn’t hard at all. It has a soft bouncy outer texture. It’s a tad bit oily to touch.
Third, nutrition. Hemp seeds are a nutritious powerhouse. They contain 30% fat and have high amounts of omega-3 and omega-6.
They are high in protein. 2-3 tablespoons provide about 11 grams of protein. They are also a good source of vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, iron, and zinc.

I think hemp seeds are the perfect ingredient to make energy bites. Their nutty flavor and oily/fatty texture helps bind everything together.
This No Bake Hemp Pecan Energy Balls recipe is so simple – you only need 4 ingredients + 10 minutes.
The three ingredients are:
- Dates
- Hemp seeds
- Pecans
- Almond Butter
There is no baking and no prep needed for this recipe. Just pop all four ingredients in the food processor and blend. If your mixture is too dry add 1-2 tbsp of water and blend for a little longer.
Super easy and super nutritious.

- 1 cup medjool dates
- ½ cup hemp seeds + 3 tbsp for coating
- ½ cup pecans
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- Optional: unflavored protein powder for protein boost

Place all the ingredients except for water in a food processor and blend. If the mixture is too dry add 1 tbsp of water at a time. Maximum of 2 tbsp.
Note: it’s best to use freshly bought dates. If the dates are dry and flaky, place them in hot boiling water for 15 minutes prior to making this recipe.

Scoop out 1 tbsp at a time and form small balls. Roll each ball in hemp seeds and place on a flat plate. Put in the fridge for 2 hours to firm.

Store in air-tight container for up to 2 weeks.
