Healthy Mango Breakfast Smoothie that’s a great meal replacement and will give you all day energy!
I love using tropical fruits in my smoothies both in the winter and summer. The bright yellow, the sunshine color of mangos are just sooo irresistible!
In today’s smoothie recipe, we’ll be making a breakfast smoothie. What’s the difference between a regular smoothie and a breakfast smoothie, you may ask?
A breakfast smoothie is a smoothie that has enough calories to replace breakfast. A regular smoothie – it’s just a smoothie that isn’t a meal replacement…think of it as a snack.
Breakfast smoothie will have anywhere between 250-400 calories and should keep you full until lunch.
The easiest way to turn a regular smoothie into a breakfast smoothie is to add one or two things: oats and protein powder.
I dig a little deeper into vegan nutrition in this article where I talk about what vegans should eat every day to get all the nutrients. Here’s how this Mango Breakfast Smoothie stacks up:
- 2 servings of fruit (out of 4 for the day)
- 1 serving of grain (out of 3 for the day)
You can also jazz this recipe up by adding protein powder, nut butter (peanut butter or almond), chia seeds, or sunflower seeds.
All these additions will count toward the recommended daily foods for the Vegan Plate Method. That’s what makes smoothies so great – you get to check off some many boxes with just one drink! Efficiency baby!
