What is a green smoothie? A smoothie is green if it has green leafy greens in it. Think spinach, kale, arugula, swiss chard, beet greens, etc.

Once you’ve picked out your favorite green base, it’s time to spice it up with various fruits. In this recipe we will be using kiwi fruit as our +1.

In the U.S. kiwi is in season in the winter months. California kiwi fruit grows from November through March. During the summer months in the Northern hemisphere, New Zealand is the largest supplier.

Consuming kiwi in the winter is perfect. Kiwi is packed with vitamin C, with one fruit containing about 85% of the daily value. Tell that cold to stay away -:)

P.S. Kiwi is also rich in vitamin K which essential in blood clotting process.

If you’d like to add more protein to this smoothie, feel free to add your favorite vegan protein powder. I like to add either unsweetened or vanilla flavored protein powder in this recipe. Stay away from chocolate or mocha flavored ones in this smoothie.
