What do you think of when you see strawberries?
Summer. Cake. Sweets. Berries. Fun.
When I was a kid, I only saw strawberries for a couple of weeks in the summer. My grandmother and mom would buy several pounds at a time to make jam preserves for the winter. #fondmemories

Nowadays, you can find strawberries year-around. Most strawberries in the U.S. are grown in California during the warmer months. Whereas in the winter, they’re grown in Florida.

I did a little bit of Googling around to find out about the origins of strawberries and here are some interesting facts:
- Commercial strawberries we eat today are “Garden Strawberries” which is a cross-breed between strawberries from Virginia and France. – ala French-Americano!
- Wild Strawberries have sweeter taste because of presence of certain flavor molecules absent in “Garden Strawberries”. – I need to find these Wild Strawberries!
- There are 200 seeds on an average strawberry. – Are you up for the challenge of counting? 😉
- Biologically, strawberry isn’t a berry since it doesn’t have seeds on the inside. It is considered an “Accessory Fruit”. – A very tasty accessory indeed.

This Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie is such a refreshing and filling breakfast! This recipe does not include a banana. It is ideal for people who don’t like the taste of bananas. Or for people who don’t have bananas on hand (but do have strawberries) and still want to make a delicious smoothie.
For this Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie, we will be using non-dairy yoghurt as a creamy base. It works wonderfully! The best part – you can use any yoghurt brand you love! I like to use unsweetened and unflavored yoghurts in this recipe to avoid affecting the taste and to avoid added sugar.
